In very exciting news, UEC’s founder, Shannon, was invited to Washington, D.C., in late October by the US Department of Defense to present UEC’s strategic plan for the incorporation of transgender personnel in the military. Shannon met with Eric Fanning, Secretary of the Army and Gordon Tanner, Chief General Counsel of the Air Force, among others, to discuss and review proposals for widespread military sensitivity trainings and how UEC can best partner with the DOD. You may not know that Shannon actually served in the Air Force for 12 years, so this is a cause close to her heart. It is a huge honor for UEC and we hope to continue in talks with the DOD as they work to bring equality to transgender men and women by allowing them to serve our country openly.
