We are delighted to announce that in September of 2016 UEC’s founder and president, Shannon, was appointed to the Human Rights Campaign’s (HRC) Board of Governors for Oregon and Southwest Washington. UEC is humbled to work with the Human Rights Campaign in our mutual mission to create equality for the LGBTQ community. Founded in 1980 and boasting over 1.5 million members, HRC is the largest LGBTQ civil rights advocacy group in the US, striving to establish and protect those basic rights for the community. HRC was at the forefront in the struggle to legalize same-sex marriage in the US, which was finally won on June 26, 2015. Many of UEC’s members volunteer with HRC. As a Governor, Shannon manages outreach, volunteering, and fundraising for HRC in her local Oregon and Washington communities. This is yet another step toward UEC’s mission to furthering equality in the workplace and the world. Shannon previously served as a steering committee co-chair for HRC, facilitating membership outreach. Congratulations, Shannon!
